DELUXE SMITHS A504 HALLMARKED SOLID 9T GOLD AS DISPLAYED IN ADVERTS 1954 BOXED
An excellent un-engraved example of a Smiths Deluxe model A504, one of the watches that was advertised as having been selected for the expedition up Everest, and seen in many of the adverts from the period, and one of the strongest selling models. case width approx 32mm. This fine example dates form 1954 according to the Edinburgh gold assay marks on the BWC case.
New 16mm ZRC brown calf strap with the crown logo. Frosted gilt English c series movement, with Deluxe escapement.
The case has never been engraved and the back could still do with a polish. There are some scratches at the case side from careless opening, and a couple of tiny marks on the dial, but the watch is so nearly perfect.
