DELUXE SMITHS ROMAN NUMERALS DENNISON AQUATITE CASE C 1953 MODEL A402.
A nice example of a Dennison Aquatite cased Smiths Deluxe 15 jewel English wristwatch model A402 1952/3.
Movement number 113605. Aquatite case. Keeping good time for the age of the watch. This case features an extra seal in the bezel rim adjacent to the crystal rim as per some of the JW Benson Tropicals. Fully overhauled and with a new strap crystal and suitable replacement crown. Case diameter 33.5m. Usual wear to the thin matte chrome plated case finish but not a bad example. the dial is very heavily printed on this watch and the hands which are blue steel are plain baton pattern, and well trimmed at the point which is unusual for Smiths. The pre Epsilon gilded movement finish isn't as bright as later Smiths and the movement shows a degree of hand finishing under the dial.
18mm strap size
In the pictures on a wrist for size comparison with modern watches that you may have this smiths wristwatch is modelled on a standard european medium sized wrist of 7 1/4 inches, the model is just under 6 ft tall and well built.
