DELUXE EARLY ENGLISH SMITHS POCKET WATCH C 1952 OPEN FACE 15 JEWEL
A Deluxe dialled Smiths English post war pocket watch wit the 19 ligne movement. These differ from the wristwatch movements, in that the click is a conventional circular type with coil spring. The balance is the earlier type used in the wartime versions, that is it is a plain smooth rim version with no screws. The chromed case has a diameter of 51.9mm, and is marked made in England. There is a large sns scratched inside the back cover but no other traces of service history. The watch has been completely overhauled and no faults or signs of abuse were found, although the wet lubricant inside indicates that it had been serviced, though not marked. The prominent sns mark may well be something from the Smiths factory, as the watch is slightly unusual in respect of the movement number being hand scratched , 564, though some of these never got numbered at all, they're generally numbered with prefixes.
The 15 jewel lever movement keeps time dial up and pendant up, the two usual pocket watch positions, but don't expect quartz accuracy. Movement is nickel plated with Geneva stripe type decoration.
Condition, dial is perfect as a Smiths dial can be, so is the movement, the crystal is new and the case is in rubbed condition.
