Deluxe Smiths A460 Everest pattern Antarctic explorers model gents wristwatch c 1960. One of the pattern watches that went on the Fuchs/Hillary expedition.  This slightly later model is the A460 which is shockproof, and it is in better than average condition, with general aging and wear  in a pleasing proportion. All original including even the winding crown, apart from the new crystal and the ZRC cowhide handmade vegetable tanned 16mm watch strap. The full red painted hand is  feature of the earlier Smiths before they used red triangular and diamond shaped tips more reminiscent of Swiss watches. The cal 27 movement has been fully overhauled and carries our usual 2 year warranty. Case top in chromed brass or cuprel with a steel screw in back. As well as the A404 everest pattern watch this model is the one to collect ! Case diameter approximately 33mm excluding the crown. With the original A460 box and the guarantee stamped James Walker from 1960. Comes in our special presentation packaging. The frontal image shows a shadow cast on the face not discolouration.
