EARLY ENGLISH SMITHS POCKET WATCH C 1950 B SERIES OPEN FACE 15 JEWEL
Early English Smiths pocket watch c 1950 b series open face 15 jewel. Produced post ww 11 between 47 and 51 numbered b1116 fitted in an Eclipse gold plated case rather than a Dennison signed one. Case number 48. The dial is paint finished with imperfections and slight lifting in the seconds track. This is a gloss paint simulating a more expensive enamelled surface. The hands are Smiths flat profile thin gauge type. The movement which is 19 ligne has been serviced and keeps good time. The balance is the second type with screws in the rim, the first ones had a wartime smooth rimmed balance like the SW43 stop watches. Case diameter about 51mm. Starts straight away when wound and has a crisp action. It is recommended to protect the dial finish by avoiding extremes of temperature or prologued exposure to sunlight, strong lighting etc.
