A superb all steel Smiths Everest wristwatch with the rare all steel case. Fitted with the 19 jewel later movement designed to be easier than the 12 ligne movement to work on, and made with the intention that it could have the automatic winding mechanism added later. In full working order, recently fully overhauled. The two piece case with clip on back is a tad shy of 35mm wide and was sold at the time as water resistant. My personal one of these still is passing waterproof testing even now. As is this one following the overhaul, fitted with a new zrc matt brown alligator/croc pattern leather strap with a good vintage look. This watch is also found with imperial on the dial, which with slight differences is the same basic watch. Nice dial, original finish, original Smiths chromed hands and the rarer coffin batons on the 3 6 9 12 dial. Movement is excellent. Not rated for swimming, but should be ok for rain etc. The armoured crystal has been replaced but the crown and case seal are the original ones. Dates from 1960. Minor marks which are invisible in the pictures are on the strap lugs, these could be removed by the new owner if wanted. The strap size is a conventional 18mm, leaving the choice of strap available open to the widest selection available.
