IMPERIAL SMITHS AUTOMATIC STAINLESS STEEL 25 JEWEL ENGLISH WRISTWATCH
The famous Smiths Made In England elusive automatic wristwatch with the 25 jewel movement with nickel plated finish movement based on the 19 jewel movement. Designed by Richard Good and Peter Amis in London and built in Cheltenham. Copied directly from the IWC automatic mechanism of the period. Correctly signed on the movement Imperial. This is is a good timekeeper. Recently serviced with a new strap and crystal with any worn parts replaced. Movement in good condition, the pellaton winding system all functioning correctly. The case has usage marks, and is the type without the writing on the back. The dial is excellent with the made in England visible at the bottom. Solid gold hands and gilt dial markings, The case diameter is about 34.8mm making it one of Smiths larger diameter watches. The case construction is all stainless steel with a clip on back which is nice and tight. Fitted with a new 18mm buffalo grain bioconfort ZRC strap. The interesting and necessary modification that was made to the 104 caliber was the click screw. In the manual movement this is prone to tear out of the threads, the mod is that the fixed click screw was removed for the auto system.Please note that there marks on the case but the sharp angle and sloping facet on the lugs has been maintained as the case to has never been polished. Strap can be changed to one you would prefer. The strap size is 18mm.
