Regular price £650.00 Sale

The I.C.I contracted Smiths watch. One of the earliest Smiths made. These were in sterling sliver cushion cases and engraved with the owners details for a previous year as they had been on war service and the watches were given after the war when english watches were first made again. this one is dated 1942, but the hallmark is Birmingham assay office for 1946. Produced ups until the end of the Smiths watch production in one form or another with the later ones in two piece lighter cases.

The case diameter is about 30mm. Has been serviced and has been fitted  with a new crystal and strap and in excellent working order. B series movement with 15 jewels, mono-metallic balance, flat anti-magnetic hairspring, club toothed lever, polished escapement. Blue steel baton hands. Technically this is a 12-15 the designation for smiths watches prior to the use of model names such as Deluxe.  Note the early Geneva stripe type finish and the fat regulator index and skinny train wheels indicating early production. It looks like a b c etc prefix were all in the same year of production. Please note that the winding crown has now been changed as the watch was too hard to wind.
