Smiths J W Benson 16j 9ct boxed wristwatch given by the board of directors at TI that is Tube Investments an engineering company which much later amalgamated with Smiths. the recipient was a senior figure, Sir William Scott O.B.E J.P. with the full details on the case back. The strap is 16mm. The thickness is 10.2mm.

Ti were one of the companies that used up the best part of the case back when dedicating the watch, and we have another coming soon to an ordinary employee rather than a titled associate which is equally verbose.

The J W Benson movement batch number 619 was an enhanced version here in the 16 jewel grade with extra polished components and good quality balance assembly. The movement is in very crisp condition, but with some scratching on the edges which isn't visible normally from removing form an over tight case. some dial deterioration, but a nice design with a raised roman chapter ring.

The case width without the crown is an old fashioned 31.6mm. The hallmarks are 60/61 Edinburgh assay office. As in many Smiths cases there is a pleasant pink tint too the solid 9ct gold case material. BWC case numbered 41287.

Comes in an internally signed J.W.Benson box but signed by Ti on the outer lid. Two year warranty, the watch has been serviced snd keeps good time.
