DELUXE SMITHS 9CT GOLD BRITISH RAIL WRISTWATCH IN GOOD CONDITION WITH PATTERNED DIAL 1966

DELUXE SMITHS 9CT GOLD BRITISH RAIL WRISTWATCH IN GOOD CONDITION WITH PATTERNED DIAL 1966

Regular price £1,500.00 Sale

Good example of the British Rail North Eastern Region award for long service, this one for 45 years which is I think the highest number of years that can be found on a BR watch. The case diameter without the winding crown is about 30.8mm. The 15 jewel English movement has been recently serviced.

This is the full Astral grade escapement with un-polished components and a smooth rimmed balance, and the benefit of shock-proofed balance settings.

Why an Astral spec movement in a Deluxe watch? Well one can only surmise that some of the B.R. watches were built to a price or ordered knowing that they were a cheaper product inside.

The strap size is a Smiths norm, 16mm. Fitted here with a brown 16mm sports type strap. . Of the two types in these cases this version has the bark finished dial. Some spotting at the dial edge mostly hidden by the case top. Essentially a 3,6,9,12 dial. The whole watch is in excellent all round condition with a good solid thick case.

Good timekeeper for every day use, just not water proof.

London hallmarks for England's world cp winning year 1966. Comes with our usual presentation pack and archive book and two year warranty.
