Original dial slight mismatch in hand lume but its original., Note the distinctive all red painted seconds hand on this model. 33mm case with chromed top and steel screw in back. The chromed finish, which is brushed horizontally at the sides and polished everywhere else. It Is in generally poor condition, with wear on the high points . Currently fitted with a 16mm brown calf strap.  Fully overhauled and with the usual two year warranty. 17 jewel c series frosted gilt finished english lever movement with the polished deluxe grade escapement, flat hairspring and nickel plated mono-metallic balance wheel.  c1955. This watch has been thoroughly overhauled with the original very used crown retained however so waterproofing is not guaranteed. Please note that the dial is very worn at the edge, has discolouration and scuffs near the centre. Priced accordingly.

As a note of interest these cases aren't signed Dennison as one would expect during these years of production, and one would assume that they are made by one of the case companies absorbed by Smiths, although unusually this example's original crown is the Dennison pattern so I have left it on, though the plating has worn off.

This case is one of possibly several different types used on the a454 and probably 460, though I haven't checked the latter. Some are marked on the outside waterproof antimagnetic, some water resisting stainless steel back. there are differences in the case lug length and profile. also the internal finish differs, The interior on this looks more like a Dennison with the pelage not being used. Possibly they sourced some elsewhere rather than using their own facilities. The case has a lot of bracing which could be polished to make it less visible, I have only lightly cleaned it in the ultrasonic tank for about 30 seconds. Although the case is very worn near the case back, there is a flat seal fitted recently which makes up the gap. Movement number J/C  241928. Caliber 27 c.s. Case width 33mm, strap size 16mm. thickness is 11.9mm. New calf strap and crystal fitted.
