Deluxe Smiths 18 carat solid gold 18 jewel top of the range larger wristwatch serviced.
The case diameter is a tad short of 35mm. As is fairly usual for these larger dress watches which were not waterproof there is some toning of the dial surface although this is nice and even, with the hands and indices being gold as well.
Other refinements aside form the extra jeweling include a Breguet hairspring. The caliber designation is 0421.
The 18 carat gold case carries a lightly engraved long service inscription on the back and also has a dent. Both could be improved by a competent jeweller. The hallmarks are from the Edinburgh assay office and stamped SCW.
The quality of this case is evident when the movement is removed, the high carat gold has a satisfying hefty feel to it.
This rare watch dates from 1960/61. One period curiosity is that it takes a 16mm start, and currently has a ZRC pattern strap fitted.
The dial is not as dark as the image shows.
Two year warranty plus our usual presentation and archive package come with the watch.
