The highest grade of manual wound movement used by Smiths, specially refined and with extra jewelling and extra special escapement components and a Breguet overcoil hairspring. A solid gold 2 piece case with screw in back. Diameter 33.5mm. Fitted with new old stock English spring bars and a new brown leather strap. Fully overhauled with a year's guarantee. A super quality Ford engraving on the case back for presentation in 1961.
This example is in average condition with some wear to the dial finish at the edge. Birmingham assay office marks for 1961/2. The movement is caliber 50421e with c267377L number marked on it. This is the heavier of the two case types seen on these screw back gold Smiths. The case is model ref ALD 12880 supplied by Dennison and numbered 114213,
Two tone dial finish with raised gilt batons and numerals, with subsidiary seconds hand track at 6 o'clock. Hands are gold plated.
