SMITHS EARLY ALL STAINLESS STEEL 12-15 MADE IN ENGLAND WRISTWATCH PRE-SERIES

Regular price £1,050.00 Sale

One of the earliest Smiths post war wristwatches produced with the 12 ligne civilian movement. In early form here, with all the signs of the early production pieces from around 1947.

Features to note are the balance wheel is the early type. Nickel plated movement with geneva stripe style decoration. Bolt screw within the bridge. Small case screws, narrow slots on the screw heads, and most notably no letter precedes the production number. The case is 3 piece all steel and a good tight fit. Dennison series 12323, number 4557. The other case parts are part numbered tallying with this. Original dimple crown.

Case diameter 31.1mm. Crown part recessed within the case. Movement number is 8606. The balance requires replacing so i'll source a contemporary one so that it keeps reasonable time as this one has a really lazy action.

The originally fitted home made leather strap will be sent along with a new suitable fitted calf leather zrc strap in 16mm.
